Life is Magic
Today, everything immediately gets analyzed, diagnosed, judged and labeled. The mind has completely taken over and people are often trapped in their heads full of thoughts. This takes away a lot of the joy we can feel when we simply experience the present moment and perceive what surrounds us. It seems we have forgotten to enjoy life itself, which would actually make us feel more alive and connected, instead of getting lost in the distractions of the modern age.
Due to programming of the subconscious with all its thought patterns and beliefs, we have limited ourselves in terms of what we are looking for and what we think how something should look like. In truth, however, this is an illusion: There are no rules to follow and no expectations to fulfill. We are completely free to do whatever we want. When you realize this, it is liberating for you. You will have a much more enjoyable experience by not focusing on the outcome.

"Letting go of expectations and control. The moment you stop forcing and surrender, the magic happens." |
|
Setting yourself free by opening up will not only inspire your creativity, it will also shift the whole dynamic of how things play out in your reality. Paradoxically, it is precisely when you let go that the magic happens. The moment you stop forcing and controlling, things start falling into place. Surrendering to the flow instead of being consumed by thoughts of what kind of picture you want and how to get it, will create the space for interesting things to happen and heightens your awareness so that you actually perceive them. You will be able to sense the energy of what is going on around you and know when and what to shoot.
The more natural this becomes for you, the more you evolve and begin to know things intuitively, even before they actually occur. It leads you to photographs that happen only for you, and are therefore unique, full of authenticity and genuine emotional depth. And that's exactly what the viewer will experience when looking at them.

This Journey is an Adventure
Being out there to explore and discover life like a child would do is the most wonderful experience one can have. Having no concept, no plan, no preconceived notions what to look for – and also no guarantees what you will find. Unfortunately, most of us have forgotten this feeling as we grew up.
Wandering around with nothing in mind, completely immersing yourself in the flow of life and being as receptive as possible to sense what surrounds you, is what brings deep joy, relaxation, and fulfillment. The whole purpose is to not know whether and what kind of image you will get. Because if you knew, the adventure is gone.
Patience and devotion will lead you to wonderful things along your way, that you could have never imagined or even set up. Genuine expressions of life in all of its forms which display the interconnectiveness between all people, objects, and environments with their distinctive subtleties that give them their unique character.

"This is a journey like no other, an adventure of discovery and revelation – you never know where it will take you." |
|
The mission assigned to me is to discover life as it expresses itself, to capture it, and share the images with other people so that they too can appreciate the often unseen beauty, wonders, and inexplicabilities of the world.
Occasionally, this leads to curious encounters with uninvolved persons. Seeing me taking photographs they ask "What are you actually taking pictures of? There's nothing to photograph here." This is because most people think there is nothing interesting happening around them. For me, it's always been the other way around: There is always something interesting going on, most of the time you just don't see it.
Having that inner knowing gives you the faith that you are always in the right spot at the right time, because there is no wrong time or place. This journey is not about hustling, searching and covering as much ground as possible, it's about being present. When you are open and receptive the images will find you.

For the Love of It
Art is a way of expression for how one sees and experiences the world. Like any other art form, photography is not an intellectual exercise that you can think your way through. You see something happening that you can't describe, that makes you feel something you can't explain, but that speaks to you loud and clear. It's the emotional experience which cannot be described in words but that triggers you to take the picture. The whole process is beyond intellectual comprehension and explanation. Life, just like art, is meant to be experienced, not to be understood.
What makes a picture stand out is neither its technical quality nor is it a certain look or style. It's always the non-intellectional thing which you immediately sense when you see it, that creates the emotional connection and closeness to the viewer.
A photograph is a visual poem, and the author decides on its content and form. So you have to decide what you want to talk about and how you want to express it. In order to say something meaningful with a photograph, you not only have to see and feel, but also make others see and feel. Since the pictures you take are always also a reflection of yourself, the deeper your experiences as a human being are, the more interesting your photographs will be.

"You have to ask yourself why you are doing it. When you are doing it out of love, it becomes an act of love." |
|
Your intention plays a bigger role than you might think – for yourself and everyone else. So the question you need to answer for yourself is: Why you are doing it? Are you interested in the process or only the results?
If you are only interested in getting the results you want, you will have to deal with and create a lot of disappointment. Every time you don't get what you want, you will feel sad and your mood will worsen. This will be reflected in the encounters you have with other people along the way, as well as in your photographs. If, on the other hand, you love what you do regardless of the results, you will feel joyful and your experiences with others and your results will reflect this as well.
For most people, this seems counterintuitive and is hard to grasp. But it's quite simple: If you are doing it out of love, your horizon will expand exponentially and not only the quality of your work will inevitably improve. When you are doing it out of love, it becomes an act of love in itself and you yourself will experience love in the process.
Although a picture cannot directly change the world, it has the power to change the perception of it and thereby our awareness and mindfulness in the long term. In this way, a photograph can promote love and peace and thus inspire millions of people – more effective than a thousand words.
